beliefs |
In Judaism, actions are far more important than beliefs, although there is certainly a place for belief within Judaism.
|
Afterlife- Traditional Judaism believe that death is not the end of human life. Judaim is focused on life here and now rather the on the after life it leaves a great deal of room for a personal opinion. Orthodox Jews do believe that the souls goes to a place similar to a Christian heaven.
Purpose of life- Live what you were willing to die for.

Do's and Don'ts
Do - ASK QUESTIONS. The more creative the better.
Do - try to figure out from Torah how to treat others with compassion whether you love them or not, & whether you can figure out how to respect their views or not.
Do - look at the commandments for how they enable you to connect to your better self & get closer to God.
Do - ignore those Christians who were taught incorrectly that the commandments are about rules & strictness...and hopefully invite them to Shabbat someday so they can see for themselves what it's really like.
Don't - let the bigots turn you into hate. You win the reward of a chance to better the world & a better life, if you stay focused on improving the world, not on going to their view of the world.
Don't - worship idols or any other Gods.
Don't - do human or human-god sacrifices.
Don't - worry about the afterlife. It's about making THIS world a better place, & how to live THIS life morally & spiritually.
Don't - worry about what anyone else believes in the community - their relationship to God is between them & God & it's not our place to judge it.
Don't - worry about belief. Worry about actions. How you effect yourself & others is more important than forcing yourself to believe in anything - including in God. If you act righteously, God will judge it positively even if you don't believe in God.
